DMV TO CLOSE ESCONDIDO COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE OFFICE

Sacramento --Time is running out for drivers who plan to obtain a commercial driver license at the Escondido Commercial Driver License (CDL) office. The facility, at 2869 Progress Place, no longer meets newly implemented federal guidelines for commercial testing, so the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is permanently closing it at 5 p.m. on October 26, 2011.

Customers, who have been conducting business at the Escondido office since it opened in 2004, will be able to enjoy the same quality service at the following locations:

Spring Valley DMV                              San Bernardino DMV
1901 Jamacha Road                         110 West Central Avenue
El Cajon, CA 93955                            San Bernardino, CA 92408

The Escondido office processed 1, 077 transactions during the 2010 fiscal year. Employees who work at this office will be reassigned to other DMV offices.

CDL offices specifically work with drivers, who are hired to transport passengers, pull double and triple trailers and haul hazardous materials

And, customers making advance appointments will automatically receive a courtesy reminder call three days in advance of their scheduled appointment. DMV’s “Appointment Notify” telephone system reminds customers about the date, time, field office location and type of appointment.
